What to pack in your luggage for a bariatric surgery

Appropriate preparation for plastic surgery is very important. There are many things that you need to consider and it is always easy to forget something while packing. We hope that this post will be helpful for anyone who at the moment is getting ready to travel abroad for a bariatric procedure. Below you will find a list of things that we recommend to put into your suitcase:

Comfortable and loose clothing

Loose-fitting clothes are advised for the patients’ convenience as they are easier to put on and take off.

Button-up dress or shirt

Those are useful in case you are having surgery as you don’t have to raise your arms in order to put them on.

Comfortable footwear

After surgery, the last thing you would want to worry about is sore feet so make sure that your shoes won’t cause any additional discomfort.

Cosmetic bag

Make sure you don’t forget to pack all of your personal hygiene products, especially vaseline, menstrual pads, earplugs, as well as deodorant, dry shampoo, etc. Of course, if you are traveling with hand luggage only, don’t forget about the 100 ml limit for liquids on a plane.

Comfortable underwear

Feeling comfortable after any kind of operation is crucial.

Electronic devices

Lots of our patients bring laptops, headphones, smart tablets or electronic books to make their flight and also recovery days a little bit more entertaining.

Chargers for your electronic devices

Don’t forget the adapters, too, as the plug-ins in Lithuania have two round pins, which is different from some other countries, such as the UK and Ireland.

Travel documents

Make sure your passport and other relevant documents are packed. Check if your travel documents do not expire before you leave for Lithuania.

Compression socks

We recommend wearing or simply bringing compression socks. They are used for thrombosis prevention and should be worn at least during the flight.

Neck pillow

It will make your flight home more convenient.

Baby wipes

Those will help you feel fresh and clean.

Prescribed medication

If you are taking any medication that is prescribed to you in your home country, remember to take plenty of it to Lithuania and to the clinic.
